August was a record month in terms of revenue for Michigan’s online casinos.
The state of Michigan is the newest state in America to legalize online casinos. And it’s safe to bet that Governor Whitmer and the state legislature have no regrets about the numbers they are seeing from the generated revenue.
Michigan reported its August figures for internet gaming revenue, and the total came in at $97.2 million, an increase of 5.3% from the previous month.
This netted a total of $28.8 million in state and local tax revenue. This revenue is spent on public education and safety programs throughout the state.
Who came out on top in August?
The top online casino in Michigan for the month of August was BetMGM, the online casino coupled with its land-based partner, which pulled in a total of $39.7 million in revenue ($10.5 million in taxes).
In terms of game providers, the winner in Michigan was Evolution with its live casino games. The game provider went live in ten online casinos throughout the state in late July. No doubt that this helped boost the numbers for August.
Games provided by Evolution include:
- Blackjack
- Roulette
- Poker
- Baccarat
- Game Shows
- …and more.
