The numbers are in for Connecticut’s soft launch and they are good. Read the full story to see what analysts are saying.
Connecticut is off to a strong start by the looks of the numbers from their one-week “soft launch” last month.
The soft launch was from October 12 to October 19 and during that time period, 1.2 million betting transactions took place compared to CT’s 3.5 million population.
Unsurprisingly, a good amount of Connecticut’s wagering traffic during the soft launch came from the southwest area of the state, close to New York. Online gaming is currently not legal in the state of New York.
What are analysts and experts saying?
Chad Kornett, vice president of global government relations at GeoComply, took a look at the numbers and had this to say, “We’ve learned from the New Jersey experience that New Yorkers are clearly motivated to travel locally to bet on sites where proper consumer protections have been put in place that safeguard the integrity of their wager. Connecticut looks to be quickly following a similar pattern: Easily accessed from the New York City area, GeoComply’s data shows 38% of Connecticut’s wagering activity has originated from the southwestern corner of the state along the I-95 corridor.”
Rich Roberts, president of Mohegan Digital, said early numbers from the soft launch are “very encouraging,” for MoheganSunCasino.com and its partner, FanDuel Sportsbook, bringing in new customers
