Happy New
Year!
For this month's podcast I
interview syndicated gaming writer John Grochowski about
new table games and slot/video poker machines introduced
at the G2E (Global Gaming Expo) trade show this past
November in Las Vegas.
Gaming authors Jean
Scott and Henry Tamburin each contribute
an article this month.
Henry's
story explains why you should
avoid blackjack games that only pay 6-to-5 for blackjack
and Jean's article gives tips for finding and
using a casino host.
There's also a special story
contributed by one of our newsletter subscribers about
his adventures using coupons on a recent trip to Las
Vegas.
We have some details
on our upcoming "meet & greet" event in Las
Vegas on March 9 and our "Casino Profile" feature this month
takes a look at The Palms in Las Vegas.
Don't forget that as a subscriber to
our newsletter you are eligible to enter a private poker
tournament each month with over $1,200 in prize money.
It's absolutely FREE with no money required to enter.
Look in the column on the left side for more
info.
And finally, be sure to vote for your favorite
casinos for your chance to win one of 10 autographed
copies of next year's American Casino Guide. Details are
below.
We hope you enjoy these

Why
You Should Avoid
6-to-5 Blackjack
Games
By Henry Tamburin
There's
an awful blackjack game that is spreading like wildfire
in casinos throughout the US.
The game is played with a single deck
of cards (that's the come-on) and when a player gets a
blackjack, he is paid at 6-t0-5 instead of the
traditional 3-to-2.
That change in blackjack payoff
increases the house edge by about 700% (Yikes!). Let me
show you in dollars and cents what a 6-to-5 blackjack
payoff costs you.

Finding and Using a
Casino Host
by Jean
Scott
For the dollar machine player,
and in many casinos even for the frequent and/or heavy
quarter player, using a casino host system will let them
reap more comps than just tapping into slot club
benefits or depending on mail offers.
However, I have had more people tell me that they
have played in casinos for years, have never seen a
host, and wouldn't know if they fell over one in the
aisle!
