There are five Indian casinos in Kansas and they are not required to release information on their slot machine payback percentages. However, according to officials at the Kansas State Gaming Agency, which is responsible for overseeing the tribal-state compacts, “the minimum payback percentage for electronic gaming devices is 80%.”
Unless otherwise noted, all Kansas Indian casinos are open 24 hours and offer the following games: blackjack, craps, roulette, slots and video poker. Other games include: poker (P), Caribbean stud poker (CSP), let it ride (LIR), three card poker (TCP) and bingo (BG). The minimum gambling age is 21.
In April 2007 the Kansas legislature authorized local referendums in several counties to allow slots at three pari-mutuel race tracks and four state-run casinos. The slots were approved at two of the three tracks, but both tracks later declined to install the machines.
State-run casinos were approved for Wyandotte County (home to Kansas City), Ford County, Sumner County and Cherokee County. The earliest any of the the state-run casinos are expected to open is late 2009.
