I've been a member of Belterra since the day they opened the doors. I live about 20 minutes away and can say that I have lots of experience with them. Belterra has changed for the worst in the past 6-8 months.

They only seem to be paying out to the high rollers. Then everyone else takes the loss. The comping is a joke. The only thing they give out for free anymore is the soft drinks and they're self-serve. I have not been in six months and I was a weekly regular. My suggestion on all accounts would be to go to Grand Victoria, it's only another 20 minutes away.

You would think that Belterra would want to keep their regular players but instead would prefer to give it to someone from out of state. All casinos change from time to time due to management and its just Belterras time. The atmosphere is tight, people are just tired of loosing. I have friends that still go and then want to complain. Best of luck if you decide to go.

I don’t know about other people, but when I go to the casino, it would be nice to have at least a chance to win. Just returned from 3 days at belterra. The hotel and the rest of the common areas were very nice, well above average. We were there aug 1 to 3rd, 2009. Many of the common areas were so cold you had to get up and leave. We told many about it and on the 2nd day it was better. Ate in the buffet twice---good----however many items were not hot. When you go to the casino, it is like leaving from a beautiful park and going to the slums downstairs. Very little light, no cheer here and a old selection of machines with very tight paybacks. You don’t expect this when you are at a place like belterra. The pool is very small and not easy to get to. All in all----not a place that i would hurry back to for a second look.

I have spent way too much time here. I play video poker. There has been a loyal video poker crowd and we have made many friends but that crowd is slimming down. The comps are HORRIBLE (as in no comps unless you lose more money than I am willing). The payouts have been reduced greatly - several years ago we called this our "part time job", now we donate our money.

I'm not sure what casino Gerald Orf & Ron thought they were reviewing, but it definitely was NOT Belterra.

I have found the comps program at Belterra to be superior to any other casino in Indiana.

The food is equally as good as Argosy (whom I rate the best buffet). The only downside to the Belterra buffet is it just isn't as large as Argosy.

The one area I think they do need to work on is to get some comfortable furniture in the hotel rooms. The rooms themselves are very nice, it's just the chairs/couches are not comfortable.

The payouts at Belterra, whether slots or table games, are absolutely no better or worse than any other casino. Some days you win, other days you lose. Expecting anything else is sheer idiocy.

The staff has never been anything but excellent and helpful. Never seen a snippy or snotty attitude anywhere at Belterra.

Overall, the only real improvement Belterra could make, other than a major expansion, would be to 100% ban smoking anywhere on the property.

I highly recommend Belterra to anyone wanting a nice, friendly casino to visit and great food to enjoy.

Good Video Poker but lousy comps, Thursday, 21 August 2008

I used to like Belterra because they have an outstanding progressive deuces wild  bank of video poker machines. The payback can get above 100% when the progressives get high enough.

The hotel rooms are excellent and the buffet is pretty good as well. They used to have very good cash and buffet comps so this made the casino one of my favorites.

However, they have changed the comp scheme so you need to play about $10,000 to get a free buffet particularly if you play video poker. They always had a snippy attitude at the players club but I think it has gotten downright snotty lately.

So in spite of the good deuces wild video poker machines, I never go back there any more. I can't believe that they think you need to lose thousands of dollars to qualify for 2 lousy buffets.

In comparison to the other southern Indiana casinos, belterra is simply the best. You don't have the attitude from the Argosy, the machines are better than Grand Victoria, and the services are much better than Ceasars. I go to Belterra twice monthly from Tennessee and find the overall experience better at Belterra than anywhere else in Indiana. The staff are great and try very hard to complete any requests. The steak house is great, the buffet has greatly improved with the new personnel. The vip lounge is nice. The staff, casino hosts, and dealers are outstanding. The servers and slot attendants are fast. Nice shopping and spa...Belterra has plenty to do and a great facility do do it in...

Belterra is a beautiful hotel and casino. The trouble is it's hard to win here. I have visited this place for a number of years and have never ever hit a jackpot. I'm a slots player and the machines are spaced far enough apart so you don't feel closed in. They give liberal monthly money coupons to play with. The Aquarium restaurant is super, but the buffet is not very good. The food tastes o.k. but the selections are lousy. The Argosy still has the best buffet.
