Last weekend the NFL kicked off the 2008-09 Season. Kicked, as in Kicked in the Door. It was a bang up beginning with lots more sure to be in store for someone placing smart sport bets .
Trends for Week 1 - Favorites Rule and Totals are pretty close.
In Week 1 teams giving points
went 10-6 (62.5%) against the spread (ATS). Home favorites hit a 66.66% cover rate ATS
going 6-3.
For Totals Bettors, the under was the winner in 9 of 16 (56.25%) games
played in Week 1 which means that the sportsbooks hit it pretty close and will like follow the same track next week.
Highlights of Week 1
- Tom Brady is out for the year with a torn ACL. No Farve/Brady match up next week as the J-E-T-S take on the Pats who have to find a new way to win with out their leader.
- Brett Farve made his debut with the J-E-T-S and easily covered the 3 point Road Favorite against the Miami Dolphins 20-14 as he went 15-of-22 for 194 yards passing with
two TDs. Watch out AFC East. There is a new sheriff in town.
- Sunday night in Prime Time, Aaron Rogers took over the helm of the Green Bay Packers and easily turned the Big Cheese Machine into a winner by going 18-of-22 for 178 yards with 1 TD Pass and another running TD. The beat the tough Vikings by 4, 23-19, covering the 3 point spread, although the game was really not that close as GB dominated it to those watching.
- Congrats to the bettors who picked Chicago as 10 point underdogs to the Colts as they STOMPPED Indy 29-13.
