2009 American Casino Guide - Coupon Changes

Las Vegas

El Cortez - Roberta's Steakhouse has been renamed The Flame Steakhouse. The Roberta's Steakhouse coupon will still be honored at the newly renamed restaurant.

Golden Nugget - Effective February 5, 2009 "Defending The Caveman" will be replaced by the Gordie Brown show. The 2-for-1 "Defending The Caveman" show ticket will be accepted for the new Gordie Brown show.

Imperial Palace - On December 9, 2008 the Legends in Concert show moved from the Imperial Palace to Harrah's. The 2-for-1 show ticket is being accepted at the Harrah's box office.

Planet Hollywood - The show "A Musical Tribute to Liberace" has closed. If it reopens at another location, they say they will accept the coupon. 

Laughlin

Aquarius - The ""Turn a $20 Into More" promotion has been discontinued and the coupon is no longer valid.

Las Vegas

Binion's - The casino is under new management and no longer accepts the 2-for-1 $11.99 Steak and Lobster dinner coupon. If you ask, they will offer you a replacement meal. Their other three coupons are still being accepted.

Circus Circus - This casino no longer offers a fun book.

Feast Buffet - Originally, there were six casinos accepting this coupon, but only four accept it now: Sunset Station, Texas Station, Santa Fe Station and Green Valley Ranch. Boulder Station and Red Rock are not accepting it.

Fiestas Buffet - Originally, there were two Fiesta casinos accepting this coupon, but only one accepts it now: Fiesta Rancho. Fiesta Henderson is not accepting it. Additionally, due to counterfeiting problems, Fiesta Rancho is requiring that the American Casino Guide book be presented along with the coupon still in the book.

Gold Rush - This casino is no longer accepting its coupon.

Little Macau - This coupon has changed. It is now a 50-coin bonus and it is only valid for machine denominations of 50 cents or less.

Magic Star - This casino has been renamed Wildfire and it no longer accepts the Magic Star coupon, nor will it accept the Wildfire coupon.

Nevada Palace - This casino closed and a new casino was built in its place - Eastside Cannery. The matchplay, 40-coin bonus on video poker, and the 2-for-1 buffet coupons are being accepted at Eastside Cannery.

Opera House - The table games have closed. Therefore, the coupon for "$20 Free Play in Blackjack" is no longer being accepted.

O'Shea's - The Vinnie Favorito Comedy Show has moved from O'Shea's to the Flamingo Hotel. The coupon will be honored at the Flamingo box office.

Silver Nugget - The "$20 Free Play in Blackjack" coupon is limited to one time use only.

Slots-A-Fun - This casino no longer offers a fun book. Also, the Players Club desk has closed. To redeem the free 1/2-pound hot dog coupon you should go to the Players Club desk at Circus Circus.

Speedway - The free T-shirt for new player's club members has been changed to $5 in free play.

Terrible's Lakeside - The table games have closed. Therefore, the $10 blackjack matchplay coupon is no longer being accepted.

Primm Valley Casino Resorts - The free T-shirt for new player's club members has been changed to $5 in free play.

More bets are placed on the Super Bowl than on any other sporting event of the year, including March Madness.

Coming in at #2 last year was the Kentucky Derby

The 2007 Super Bowl marked the second biggest Super Bowl revenue for the Nevada Sports Books ever, with gross revenue for the weekend reaching $12.9 million.  Approximately $93 million was wagered on the Super Bowl in the state’s sports books in 2007, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

In the 12 states with commercial casinos in operation in 2007, casinos contributed $5.79 billion in tax revenue to state and local governments, a 11.3 percent increase over 2006

In 1989 The Mirage Hotel & Casino Resort opened in Las Vegas and it began the tradition of the destination casino resort. When it opened, the Mirage was the most expensive hotel casino ever built, with construction costs of $630 million. It featured more than 3,000 rooms and headliner attractions such as Siegfried and Roy's magic show.

Slots and other electronic gaming machines generate about 65% of the gaming revenues for the average U.S. casino.

Blackjack is the most popular table game in U.S. casinos.

There are 11 states with "racinos" - racetracks with a casino - Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Louisiana , Maine, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia.

Of the total amount bet on the Super Bowl, only about 1.5 percent is wagered legally; these bets are made by those over age 21 and physically present in the state of Nevada.
