Greektown Casino: Best VP for this Ohio girl

I enjoy playing VP at Greektown. I play NSU, JB and pick'em. I'm not real happy with the smoke, but try to work around it. I go there on bus trips. I have had a lot of success there. This year I have had 3 RF's, most recent one Friday, at least 4 sets of dueces, and 2 straight flushes on pick'em.

I'm not real pleased with the downloading as the machines I play don't have the availability or don't work. Again, I work around it. I liked when you could download and cash out. When I went there Friday, it was nice that you could go to a counter apart from the slot booth to get comps or cash upstairs if there was a line at the booth.

I have their calendar which gives 2x points once a month. I'm only there for 5 hours on the bus and usually play mostly quarter VP and get $15 per week bonus play plus pretty decent comps. This is pretty decent for this Ohio girl who wants good paying VP with incentives.

Greektown Casino: not impressed. wont go back

My friend and i were just there on a bus trip. very disappointed. First off, had to waste alot of time getting a pin number to work and for it to be activated to get money. second, they never told you how you had to use your money that you get back from the bus trip. which i thought they should have told you on the bus, or when you got reservations.

2 hrs later was when we found out when a worker helped us. very smokey. should have a non smoking section like Wheeling. the food is so so, was not happy with this trip. didnt win much. slots very tight. if you get a bonus wouldnt be much. probably wont go back. like wheeling better. lot nicer and better place. give them an over all rating of 2. very congested.

Greektown Casino: Opa! - not really

The expanded GreekTown Casino in Detroit has several major problems that seriously need to be addressed: the slot floor and tables area are too crowded and claustrophobic. GreekTown would be much more pleasant if they re-arranged the gaming floor to best utilize their space: break up the rows of slots and add more room around your tables!

I have not played tables here as they always have been crowded, but tables are too close and block high traffic areas on the gaming floor. Low ceilings on the second floor make for poor air circulation and noxious second-hand smoke. On a plus side is the secluded room/area for Video poker and roomy High-Limits area.

Another plus is the vast and varied selection of games: new releases, old favorites, and variety of denominations makes it more likely for everyone to find something they like to play.

Converting your Players' points and Free Play offers at each slot machine is a big convenience, as is the ability to use your food comps at numerous eateries in the casino property and at neighboring locations immediately surrounding the casino.

Need to have more or larger Player's Club service counters! Manuvering the new parking garage often is cumbersome and the structure doesn't seem big enough to handle the large crowds going to this newly expanded facility. The walk from the garage to the casino property is still long, but at least it's protected from the elements. Haven't stayed in the new hotel nor eaten at the new buffet yet, but have heard good comments about both.

Greektown Casino: A Better Greektown...

We just visited the new and improved Greektown and was really impressed. There are loads of new machines including many one and two cent slots. I even played a three cent machine.
The buffet was only $20 and it was fabulous!!! They are running a special right now in that all rooms are $39.99 anytime. That will get me up there again. I usually go to Windsor only because it is non smoking but it truly wasn't that smokey at all. I will go back to Greektown again.

Greektown Casino: Go Bust

While I have spent years going to Greektown my visits have dwindled in the last couple of years. I love the large number of penny and two cent machines that this casino offers and the atmosphere is clean and nice.

However, every since they started adding on the hotel 2 years ago, the slots have become so tight that the average Joe (and or Jane) cant afford to visit often. I used to be able to take $100 to Greektown and play for 6-7 hours. Now, your lucky if that lasts you an hour or two.

Greektown Casino: Nice but needs help

I like downtown. We end up at Greektown for food and drink before a sports game most of the time. I would gamble more but, the minimum bet is way too high for my blood.

I only play dice at $5 tables and I could not find one in downtown Detroit, but over the river in Canada, NO problem. Their money is worth more now anyways.

We just went to Greektown Casino before a Wings game and ended up gambling a little. We found ourselves playing Texas Hold'em with a buy-in at $50 to $100. That sucked.

Then we found out there were tables at $3-$6 blinds to whatever. There was something of a kill button if you win 2 hands in a row the blinds go up $12-$??higher and you’re automatically in at $12 on the next hand. This sucked as well.

The dealers were OK. There was one guy who was way too big to be a dealer because he had trouble collecting the chips right in front of him.

The poker room was dirty and the cards & chips sticky. I'd rather drive north or fly to Vages or KC or Shreveport, LA, or go over the river to Canada before I play in Detroit again.

Greektown Casino: Looks and feels temporary

This casino was originally just temporary until a new casino could be designed and built.

Now it is becoming permanent with an addition, but still looks and feels very temporary.

High limits at tables for the poor ambiance of this joint. The all new MGM is getting most of the attention in downtown Detroit.
