Live shows at the bar, Blackjack and Craps.
Great steaks and other goodies.
But for whatever reason they closed the blackjack and craps tables and cut service down to nothing.
Its too bad, Had some real fun there.
Somebody always has to screw up a good thing.

Bright, wide open, fun place to play. Food is basic, but well prepared and presented. An excelllent value. The all day food pass is an even better value. Washing machines (complimentary) make packing easy for a week stay and saves checked baggage fees. Cocktail service is very attentive and friendly. $5. shoe blackjack with traditional rules. No chiseling here. Can't wait to go back.

Palace Station Hotel & Casino: Going downhill fast

While the restaurants and the gambling are still OK, the desperate hotel policy of hitting guests with a surprise $14.99 "resort fee" is scandalous. Particularly when they frequently offer a $19 per night room rate. With the $14.99 "resort fee" added, the actual room rate is nearly DOUBLED. This is truly SLEEZY. Of course, the "resort fee" is disclosed on their site, if one is careful to go there and read it. But I think they're counting on people to not read it. Otherwise they would just charge $34 per night instead of $19 plus a $14.99 "resort fee".

It's hard to justify the extra effort it takes to go and gamble in this relatively isolated casino. And the hotel should be boycotted just for principles sake because of the extreme "resort fee".

Golden Gate Hotel & Casino: Great Renovation

The rooms are small, and the bathrooms really, really small. But the renovation has made it all quite pleasant. The decor is all in black, white and orange. Kind of a Halloween look! Even the coffee maker is black. There is a large flat screen TV and what looks to be free internet access (I did not use it, so I can't be sure it was free).

The front desk was a problem. The people there seem to be inexplicably slow, both on check in and check out, as well as in answering questions. This seems to be a habit, as I have stayed here several times and it is always a long wait to speak to someone, even when there is only one person ahead of you.

The first time I asked for late checkout they said it was against their policy. When I asked for 10 extra minutes they said "no" and said even one minute late would be subject to a charge. Also, you had to check out in person and stand in line, instead of simply calling to say you are leaving, as is customary in most hotels. Since that time I have made it a point to check out at least 15 minutes early and never ask for late check out.

But the renovated rooms are quite pleasant and reasonably priced. If you don't mind being crowded, you'll enjoy it.

The proximity of the excellent deli to your room is great. Or, stay downstairs and enjoy listening to the piano player. The restaurant is good too. Great prime rib dinner and fair pricing.

Buffalo Bills Resort & Casino: Liked it.

The casino is quite large and has a neat western theme. Kids enjoyed the roller coaster and other rides as well as the arcade.

The rooms here are better than a Motel 6. Overall, it was a hell of a deal and much better than expected.

Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino: Nice stay but needs some help

The Palazzo has undergone some changes already. We stayed 3 nights (comp) this week (Aug 25/27).

There are now plenty of penny machines including Wizard of Oz (4 different types), Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. The cocktail service on the slot floor was a big drawback as it sometimes took over an hour to get a cocktail/water, etc. This is being caused by the waitstaff being too thin & large areas having to be covered by one person.

The overall staff was very attentive & knowledgeable, showing a lot of training.
There was also a perfumed smell in the air that could cause problems to some people with allergies. Because of that, we will stay at the Venetian next time.
