Ameristar Casino St. Charles: Tight Slots

Ameristar used to be a good place to play, until they built their new hotel. I have had their premere card and always enjoyed myself. I don't necessarily expect to win everytime, but I do expect enough of a return to say I enjoyed myself.

Since they built their hotel, their slots are extremely tight. Every machine seems to be a dry hole that takes your money as fast as it can. We now go to the Lumiere or the Casino Queen where the slots are much looser and we always have a good time. STAY AWAY FROM AMERISTAR if you want to enjoy yourself while gaming. We learned the hard way.

Need a not applicable to some of the choices above. I don't play table games so how do I answer that? Run-of-the-mill slots and VP with lousy payback.

Folks are always nice. Food OK. New Italian restaurant had iffy service and my wife's spaghetti had that Franco-American taste.

Toby Keith's alright, buffet so-so. Steak house OK, but could use a better salad bar. We stay about once a month or two, comped.

There's a reason they call this place the 'Pile of Debris' around Kansas City.

Old, worn down, no hotel, poor access, small: it's KC's lower income casino. The atmosphere is dated, hard to find a good table, very small.

I have stayed in many expensive/prestigious hotels across the nation but none as clean and comfortable as this!

So clean you can eat off the bathroom floor and the beds were to die for. Wonderful experience-great food and fun gaming. Thought we had the best in Colorado-but like this place.

Harrahs North Kansas City: Part of the Harrah's network of comps!

Discovered this casino on a business trip. Have seen better Harrah's properties, but this casino opened my eyes to the Total Rewards program for Harrah's properties, my favorite players club.

I continue to get free room offerings, free food and free slot play coupons from this casino, though my business has changed and I no longer travel to KC. It was a good place to earn points that I then used on my frequent trips to Las Vegas.

Missouri casinos have some limitations on how much you can spend in a 2-hour period. If you reach that limit, the machines won't work until the next 2 hour cycle begins. If you play high stakes, it can create problems, but once I understood how it worked, I didn't have any other problems.

Best to play your credits and not cash out often and put money back into machines. There are flyers that explain the limits, make sure to read them so you can adjust your play.

GREAT atmosphere! Live bands playing, great happy hour at the bars. I won $1800 in 2 days at this casino.

Great variety of slots, lots of video poker. Didn't realize until my second visit that there was a second floor! Can play here for hours. I liked that you could cash out your winnings at the end of the night.

They no longer carry your comps forward, you must get them the day you earn them or lose them.

Cash comps continue, but not food comps. Once received, they last for 7 days.

Mailings have dropped off, gifts are have to be earned now, instead of just given away. Many regular members are complaining to each other about the changes.

As far as comps go, Ameristar KC is not very good at all. Like someone else posted, the food comps earned that day have to be redeemed that day and it takes a lot of points to earn food comps.

The atmosphere is the best of all the KC casinos. There is a great selection of slot machines and more elbow room even when it is crowded.
