Harrahs New Orleans: Poker Room review

Poker Room review: No overwhelming pro's/con's for this poker room, but a great poker room overall. Dealers are efficient and friendly, but a few times not so friendly amongst themselves.

Great game of Limit Hold'em & Omaha split at $4/$8, which made the trip worth it. Didn't play at the No-Limit tables, but I heard a lot of action from the players, but none were out of control.

I've been to over 20 poker rooms, and this room did not dissapoint.

There is NO customer service. They rarely have more than one cashier window open, and the lines are always long. Half of the Quicket machines are out of order. You will die of thirst before anyone comes along and offers you a drink.

There are NO table games (slots and horseracing ONLY). There is no hotel currently, although they are building SOMETHING over there.

The food on the buffet is overrated and overpriced. Cafe 24/7 is ok for what it is, but it has gotten pricey as well.

The SLOTS DO NOT PAY. Only the locals (Acadiana area) visit this establishment, but we all need to take our casino money to a place that will pay...like drive the hour to Marksville or Kinder, where you at least have a fair shot at winning.

This stupid ratings list requires you to fill out a rating, even on services the casino doesn't offer (like table games and amenities).

We only stayed one night and really enjoyed ourselves...we just stopped for the night to rest on our way back to Houston....if we would have known how nice the place was, especially the RV park we would have planned to stay longer....had fun in the Casino and the food was great....we will be back!

Maybe next time the casino will be nicer to us and let us win!! Oh..I see that some people talk about the Players club, we signed up here and usually the casino's will give you something to start you off playing in the casino (at least the other casinos have)....Coushatta didn't, maybe after we get some points added up on our card we will see some benefits....still had fun and will come back!

Called to make RV reservations and the girl answered the phone, laughing loudly in my ear and keeping up a convervation with someone in the background while I was kept waiting and repeatedly saying "Hello."

Finally, after an expecially long, loud laugh, the girl asked if I could call her back later. I hung up. There are other casinos in the area with quite nice RV parks, and we'll stay at one of those.

Lauberge du Lac Hotel & Casino: BAD SERVICE

Beautiful resort property that will require a social security card in order to redeem legally purchased chips, no matter how small the amount. They will not tell you that when you purchase them, but when you go to cash out a social security number will be required or the casino cage will refuse to cash any chips.

They are also sending out 1099's to players and will not allow you to dispute the amount that they say that you won. Beautiful resort with excellent food but do not play here unless you want to get a hard time or dont want to get paid at all. I had to file a Patron Dispute Form with the Louisiana State Police Department even though the casino had my drivers license and Visa card number on file. Ridiculous behavior considering there are many ways to get casino chips cashed without the casino knowing about it, but these people are uncompromising and unreasonable. Play at your own risk here!

Coushatta Casino Resort: Better than Vegas

My wife, daughter, son -in law and I go to Coushatta 4 or 5 times a year. From Austin it is a short 5 hour drive but well worth it. It would cost 2 of us around 1000.00 for airfare and hotel in Vegas. If you have a Players Club card your stay is really inexpensive and most times will cost nothing . Coushatta is very generous with comps. Customer service has always been tops with us, from the staff to the food and the rooms. The buffet breakfast at the Terrace Cafe is as good as anywhere in Vegas and half the price. The slots seem to pay better and they are constantly updated with new and exciting machines. So why in the world would you go thru the hassle and cost of going to Vegas ? Wish I were there now instead of sitting here at work wishing I were there. Try it out once and you will see what I'm talking about. Good luck !!

I love what you have done to the Inn at the Isle. The rooms are really nice. I would almost prefer to stay at the Inn now. Even though the other casinos are nicer, the Isle's employees are friendly and remember you name. They treat us like family. The other casinos in Lake Charles treat you like a number.

We consider the Isle of Capri home!
