This casino is one big mess. Never in my years of visiting casinos have I seen or experienced such greed & confusion. No free play, really no comp at all. Atmosphere is terrible, food is exspensive and horrible. This place needs to start from scratch all over again. The only half decent casino is the Meadows and thats not saying much !!!!

I have gambled their at least 10 times and finally hit a $1,300 jackpot.... but I'm sill down $2,000 .... Ed Rendel is the winner! The machines are SOOOOOOOOOO tight it is not funny. I won't go into the 20 minute wait it took for me to get my $1,300 payoff.... sad .... so very sad.... but they did give me two t-shirts! The Meadows is just as bad so just suck it up PA folks and deal with what PA has dealt you!

Gamblers do not mind to gamble. They understand that losses are bound to happen, and they understand the risk involved; however, gamblers look for a certain value for the dollars they spend. For example, if you spend $500 at the River's Casino, you will earn points on your Players' Club card; however, there is no trigger for free meals. If a casino refuses to feed its top patrons or offer any nourishment, what is the point of playing? The fact of the matter is that the newly created Pittsburgh casino does not offer its customers any value. You can lose $300 in an hour, and the casino does not care whether or not you leave. Get it straight, Rivers. You do not offer your loyal customers any value! I have played in many casinos, and brought at least $200 with me. I could make it last for a good three or four hours. Rivers will eat this $200 in a half hour. You will play on machines that will not pay out for $50 or $60 straight. I am talking about a simple five credit or 10 credit win. The customer service is awful. The security guards are of absolutely no help. No incentive to lose. That's why you should not go to Rivers. "Have a winning day?" It's crap.

I played at the rivers casino on thursday, no virtual tickets came up on my screen (tickets for sat. drawing) I played for well over 4 hours, I went to the players club, and was told that there was a GLITCH in the system. Maybe the GLITCH in the system resulted in one player winning 2 out of 4 cars, maybe she got all of our tickets........GLITCH!

You know, for all you people who've been here "more than 10 times" and COMPLAIN......two words for you: GO ELSEWHERE! I've gambled in PA, WV, NY, DE, NV and yes...I even gambled in homes across PA. If I didn't like the way things were going, I'd leave. SO, if the gaming sucks somewhere, don't complain, just STAY AWAY. You ruin it for someone who wants to go have fun but runs scared because of your sniping! As for you all who enjoyed your stay, KUDOS! You have a few minor complaints but nothing where you tell everyone to stay away. As for me, I'll be gambling in EVERY place I can as long as I have 2 nickels to rub together, whether they PAY OUT or NOT! P.S. I only rated the Table Games a 1 for one reason....I prefer LIVE dealers!

It is ridiculous to lose $200 in 30 minutes. Yet that happened to me on two occasions at the Rivers!

First time shame on you, second time shame on me. I will never return or play at the Rivers casino again. I hope that when new management takes over after bankruptcy they consider loosening the slots so patrons have more fun.

I have been to the casino about 10 to 15 times since it has open its door in August, and overall it is not that bad of a place. One thing that I found most impressive is the interior feels more like Las Vegas than Wheeling or Meadows. I recently returned from Atlantic City and found Rivers more impressive than the Boardwalk Casinos (Showboat, Resort, Any Trump Hotels) etc. But it still does not even come close to actually Las Vegas.

Food is simply not up to par: the buffet food overall was par and the price based on the selection was a little too high, Andrews Steak House (the steak restaurant, about $30-50 per plate with Ala Carte Menu) was so-so, I had better meals up on Mt Washington and so forth. As for bar drinks, I found them to be average price especially being in the city. Bartenders and servers have been for the most part friendly, but sometimes it is difficult to get a drink from them when it is NOT BUSY (To me, they are usually out more on the floor on the weekends, but on the weekdays it may take them twenty minutes or so to come around).

The casino floor and the restrooms are always clean and that I find little wait on most machines (except for the electronic blackjack or roulette tables, which I wait anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes for an open seat). One neat thing is that they have free complementary beverages stands (pops, sodas, coffees, etc.) throughout the casino.

While most of the comments here are individuals complaining that slots are "too tight", I have walk out of the Rivers some nights with over $800 and some nights I lost my bankroll for the evening. While payout percentage does play an important factor, it is always based on your bankroll and level of play. To give you an idea of the type of playing I do: Bring around $200, play 5 cent, 25 cent, and 1 dollar machines. I also play all machines on max bet ($2.25 for nickels ((9 lines at 5)), $1.25 for quarters ((5 lines at 25 each)), and $5 on dollar ((5 lines at 1 each). Just remember that slots are random and that payout figures (85 cents for every dollar) does not mean every machine does that; it means that for every dollar that Rivers takes in it must pay out 85 cents. I cant wait for the tables to come in the next year? so i can stop playing slots.

I do have agree with the one post that the rivers promotional card and club are sub par compared to the other casinos around Western Pennsylvania. I currently only go down on Tuesdays for 6x points to hopefully earn by Black Card to get access to the 466 club (signature drinks that would cost $10-$20 elsewhere are only $2).

Overall, it is a nice place to hang out in the evening with a group of friends if you don't want to really gamble. If you do want to gamble, then all I can say is the best of luck to you and hopefully your at the right machine at the right time!

It was the first time I ever went to a casino and I loved the slots. We went on a bus tour down and they gave us 25 dollars on the player card and a free buffet. Which was wonderful. I only brought 20 extra dollars and I came home with over a 100 bucks, just from playing the 1 cent, 2 cents, and 25 cents slots. I went to have a good time, win or lose and we did. I have been reading reviews on casinos and most are not very nice but its a chance to win or lose and you should go and have a good time. I hope this helps some people make up their minds to go and visit. You do not have to have alot of money to go and have a good time we will go again.

We're no casual slots players. Within the year we've visited Casinos in Arizona (2), Las Vegas (17) and all of Pennsylvania's casinos (except Mount Airy). We were in line at The Rivers Casino's opening day. We've returned a number of times. We've never won there. Nothing!

We've had some good luck at many of the casinos we've visited. Even the ones we've only visited once.
Yet, The Rivers seems impossible to even break even. Since we like playing the slots, we keep a close eye on the revenues generated at ALL of Pennsylvania's casinos.
(The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board's web site maintains weekly lists of revenues of all of the states casinos)
The Rivers, while it has the second highest number of machines in the state, frequently ranks near the bottom in revenue.
AND IT'S ALWAYS AT THE BOTTOM IN THE AREA OF PROMOTIONAL PLAY! (and that includes smaller casinos like Presque Isle, which has a thousand fewer machines)

Sure, it's a nice looking venue. But minus any fair shot of winning anything - it's not worth it. We'll probably stay at the less attractive, but more generous Meadows!

This casino is one big mess, 1st of all you have to search just to find certain denominations machines all mixed together. Also if you play the machine close to the max it will take all your money, seems to me this place is managed all wrong. Better get their act together or it wont be around for long. If this is what Pittsburgh has to offer. They are in for a crash landing with this place.

I have played slots all across the U.S. and know of only one casino with tighter machines. I have visited The Rivers over ten times and studied the trends closely. These machines rarely allow you to get ahead. There have been few times when I was playing with the casinos money, it was always mine as the machine systematically eroded my bankroll. I would never take any friends there and will not return myself. I believe the level of greed on the part of the casino is second to none and will be their undoing.

Visited this new facility late-night/overnight on a Sunday in August. MAGNIFICENT place! Great selection of machines (many newer games!) and the employees overall are TOP NOTCH - very friendly and really made me feel welcome and a valued customer!

My intent was to just play a few hours, but I was having so much fun while riding the "winning streak" I ended up staying & playing for nearly twelve hours!! At one point I was ahead almost $500 - playing penny slots (and a few nickel machines).

The place is CLEAN, SMOKE-FREE, and rivals the larger casinos in Vegas. Biggest drawbacks: there's no place to get a bite to eat that's open overnight, and the cafe is expensive for breakfast.

No Table games (but I understand they ARE coming), and they need to rework their food comp formula: I would expect that $1,000 coin-in would garner MORE than just $3 in food comp $$$.

The Player's Club personnel were impersonal, unfriendly, and worst of all: uninformative. I would expect these people to know their Player's Club policies, promotions, and FreePlay/Bonus Bucks' system - AND be able to explain it to their customers! (I will give then some leeway, as I visited near the end of a shift, but it's still no excuse for treating a new customer poorly and not being able to answer simple questions!)

I very much look forward to my next visit to Pittsburgh and playing at The Rivers!!

Having returned to Pittsburgh after living in Florida for 10 years, I was excited to hear that Pgh was opening a casino. One of my favorite things to do was run to Tampa (nearly 1 hour away) with 20 bucks and waste some time playing the slots. Throughout the course of a year's time, I came out ahead $1,000+ from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, great times.

But don't think you can have fun at the Rivers with $20.....

After visiting the Rivers casino, I have spent well over $500 in only 3 visits and nothing...well, that's not true, the first trip there I spent $100 and won $200 (so basically $100) but since then nothing. I've tried the .01, .05, .25 and $1.00 machines and even when I did when, I wasn't winning the amount back that I put into the bet.

As for their Customer Service, I have not had one person say even one word to me yet, not the valet, not the Players Club personnel...and don't even get me started on the staff walking around taking drink orders. I made direct eye contact with one of the girls and held up a $50, she walked over, asked 2 people around me if they wanted a drink, then walked away??!!?? WTF

My advice is this...if you are looking to waste an afternoon or evening and basically throw your money away, then pay a visit to the Rivers Casino, otherwise, call me and give me $100? and pick a number between 1 and 100, your odds of winning are about the same :)

Big mistake with this place, I'll take the drive elsewhere, it will be worth it.

Save your money!!! Worst slots ever in last ten years of going to casinos. Went 10 times since it opened and never won a dollar. Takes your money in ten minutes or less. One time I put $20 in a quarter machine and the 1st 40 spins I hit nothing and then cashed out.

The food is expensive, especialy the fast food place with fried everything at high prices. Eat before you get here. Oh, a draft beer is $5.00 at the spiral bar. Total rip-off casino.

Go to the Meadows where you can put $20 in a slot machine and sit there for over an hour and have fun. Restaurant is nicer with better prices. Last time we had lunch for free and played slots for six hours and brought home money.

They will be out of business in six months. I gave it a try and I am going back to the Meadows where they will appreciate a customer.

? These are the tighest slots I have ever seen, been there 5 times, usually down $500 in less than a hour! Never left up money. Its not worth the 10 minute trip, I'd rather drive the 40 minutes to the Meadows or over a hour to WV. And even the electronic table games are bad, most 3 card poker tables and machines pay 40 to 1 for a straight flush, and 30 to one for 3 of a kind, not here, its 35 to 1 and 25 to 1. And dont have any change on your ticket, you put it in the machine to cash out, and get back only bills and another ticket with the cents on it!

I've seen alot of mixed reviews about the Rivers Casino. Well let me tell you, I had a blast! I spent a lot of time playing the penny and nickel machines and didn't lose much money for the amount of time I got to play.

I was also surprised by the willingness of employees to help me. A young gentleman walked me to the buffet when I asked him where it was, rather than standing and pointing. I have no real complaints and I can't wait until they implement table games.

It is just beautiful inside. Much more pleasant than the Meadows and cleaner. Since the Meadows was a far drive anyhow, I'll be sticking close from now on.

Wish they had used that outside theater when it was still warm because it's really nice by the River. I really love their Wizard of Oz machines and Quick Hits.

Ok where do I start? How about the bottom because that's where this casino is. A 100% rip-off. Slots are so tight it's sad, buffet is expensive and free play is a joke.

Everyone I saw looked so unhappy (like they got hit head on by Mack truck) there motto is "Have a winning day". Must be referring to themselves. Like one review said if you like to gamble, do it anywhere but here...

I have been here about 10 times now. Lots of broken machines. Food and stores don't open until 10 or 11am for a place open 24hours?? Slots are very tight.

But the HIGH LIMIT slots area does have a lot of nice choices. Chao's is open at 7am, but offers very little. Parking was FREE and I have some nice FREE SLOT play. But these guys have a lot more to learn about being a "casino", much less a great casino. Go to this place, don't spend too much and see for your self. STAY AWAY from goofy blackjack slots and poker table slots.

Great food, location, service and atmosphere. I put $20 in a machine and on the 3rd spin I won $200. Parking was free and very secure with the presence of the security staff in the well lit garage. I can't wait till they get table games, I will be there all time.

This place is crap. Slots are a joke didn't win at all, food is expensive as hell. The rivers is just a wanna be casino. Meadows and Presque are way better.

If it lasts 6 months it's a miracle with their tight machines. SUCKS !!!! Totally rip-offs senior citizens. If this is what pittsburgh calls 1st class casino, boy do they have alot to learn - rookies..

Spending time in Vegas I felt right at home. Gorgeous casino which I thought was laid out well. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The steak house was quite unique with a terrific veiw. Overall our experience was very satisfying. Any new casino has a few bugs to work out but given time I think they will service the community well. My only complaints were I thought it was a little cold. The cost of the parking was high but if you played $80 plus your parking was free. Based on the location they would have to charge something but then again it's downtown. I will be back!

A great time, as long as you don't play the slots

Really nice new place, great atmosphere, some nice lounges, buffet is reasonably priced with a nice view, good free slot play offers, free parking for card holders. I really liked it except for one huge detail: the slots. Nobody wins there. Like all of the reviews have previously said, nobody wins anything at all at the Rivers. I'm not playing anything until they get the REAL table games (expected to be in 6-8 months). Don't put more than $20 in those electronic tables our PA casinos have. Mountaineer is 45 min away. If you're with someone that doesn't like playing slots, there's some lounges they can sit down and watch tv's. If you want any hope of winning, go to Meadows or Presque Isle. Otherwise you're just helping them pay for a new arena.

I guess i will stick with meadows and presqisle

For being a newly opened business...it is being run poorly! No one tells you where to go, they just take your money and let you fend for yourself! Food was undercooked and the food that was cooked was average at best. What a waste of money!

As a Pittsburgh native and an experienced slot player, I was anxious for the arrival of the Rivers Casino. It is gorgeous....however the purpose of a casino,in my mind, is to be entertained, not win, but enjoy.

But what a price you pay to play at the Rivers. I have never felt so ripped off or taken in my 20 plus slot playing years. For the amount of money I pumped into the machines and for what little play back I received I was angry enough to say I will never go back. (the Rivers is 3 minutes from my front door). Take your play money to the Meadows where you can be entertained for an afternoon without feeling as if you where robbed. To add insult to injury I enjoy the 1,2, 5 cent machines, you can spend a $20.00 in a minute...every winner that was announced over the PA system was a winner on a $5.00 or $1.00 machine...I wanted to scream since there were so few people playing those machines I guess all you had to do was spend $1.00. Leaving the Casino and heading into the elevator I asked if anyone won anything...not even one bonus game...shame on the Rivers Casino...maybe Pittsburgh can use Rivers for housing in a year or two...it has a beautiful view.
