Tired of Complaints, Wednesday, 18 November 2009 Written by Certified Gambler As for you all who enjoyed your stay, CUDOS! You have a few minor complaints but nothing where you tell everyone to stay away. As for me, I'll be gambling in EVERY place I can as long as I have 2 nickels to rub together, whether they PAY OUT or NOT! P.S. I only rated the Table Games a 1 for one reason....I prefer LIVE dealers! 1 of 3 people found the following review helpful
Tight Machines, Thursday, 12 November 2009 Written by Brandi It is ridiculous to lose $200 in 30 minutes. Yet that happened to me on two occasions at the Rivers! First time shame on you, second time shame on me. I will never return or play at the Rivers casino again. I hope that when new management takes over after bankruptcy they consider loosening the slots so patrons have more fun.

A Nice Place for those In Pittsburgh, Tuesday, 10 November 2009 Written by Christopher Food is simply not up to par: the buffet food overall was par and the price based on the selection was a little too high, Andrews Steak House (the steak restaurant, about $30-50 per plate with Ala Carte Menu) was so-so, I had better meals up on Mt Washington and so forth. As for bar drinks, I found them to be average price especially being in the city. Bartenders and servers have been for the most part friendly, but sometimes it is difficult to get a drink from them when it is NOT BUSY (To me, they are usually out more on the floor on the weekends, but on the weekdays it may take them twenty minutes or so to come around). The casino floor and the restrooms are always clean and that I find little wait on most machines (except for the electronic blackjack or roulette tables, which I wait anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes for an open seat). One neat thing is that they have free complementary beverages stands (pops, sodas, coffees, etc.) throughout the casino. While most of the comments here are individuals complaining that slots are "too tight", I have walk out of the Rivers some nights with over $800 and some nights I lost my bankroll for the evening. While payout percentage does play an important factor, it is always based on your bankroll and level of play. To give you an idea of the type of playing I do: Bring around $200, play 5 cent, 25 cent, and 1 dollar machines. I also play all machines on max bet ($2.25 for nickels ((9 lines at 5)), $1.25 for quarters ((5 lines at 25 each)), and $5 on dollar ((5 lines at 1 each). Just remember that slots are random and that payout figures (85 cents for every dollar) does not mean every machine does that; it means that for every dollar that Rivers takes in it must pay out 85 cents. I cant wait for the tables to come in the next year so i can stop playing slots. I do have agree with the one post that the rivers promotional card and club are sub par compared to the other casinos around Western Pennsylvania. I currently only go down on Tuesdays for 6x points to hopefully earn by Black Card to get access to the 466 club (signature drinks that would cost $10-$20 elsewhere are only $2). Overall, it is a nice place to hang out in the evening with a group of friends if you don't want to really gamble. If you do want to gamble, then all I can say is the best of luck to you and hopefully your at the right machine at the right time! 2 of 4 people found the following review helpful
first time ever at casino loved it, Thursday, 05 November 2009 Written by tina It was the first time I ever went to a casino and I loved the slots. We went on a bus tour down and they gave us 25 dollars on the player card and a free buffet. Which was wonderful. I only brought 20 extra dollars and I came home with over a 100 bucks, just from playing the 1 cent, 2 cents, and 25 cents slots. I went to have a good time, win or lose and we did. I have been reading reviews on casinos and most are not very nice but its a chance to win or lose and you should go and have a good time. I hope this helps some people make up their minds to go and visit. You do not have to have alot of money to go and have a good time we will go again. 7 of 8 people found the following review helpful
What a disappointment!, Thursday, 29 October 2009 Written by Ed Owens We've had some good luck at many of the casinos we've visited. Even the ones we've only visited once. Yet, The Rivers seems impossible to even break even. Since we like playing the slots, we keep a close eye on the revenues generated at ALL of Pennsylvania's casinos. (The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board's web site maintains weekly lists of revenues of all of the states casinos) The Rivers, while it has the second highest number of machines in the state, frequently ranks near the bottom in revenue. AND IT'S ALWAYS AT THE BOTTOM IN THE AREA OF PROMOTIONAL PLAY! (and that includes smaller casinos like Presque Isle, which has a thousand fewer machines) Sure, it's a nice looking venue. But minus any fair shot of winning anything - it's not worth it. We'll probably stay at the less attractive, but more generous Meadows! 2 of 6 people found the following review helpful

Can't wait to return!, Tuesday, 20 October 2009 Written by rob Visited this new facility late-night/overnight on a Sunday in August. MAGNIFICENT place! Great selection of machines (many newer games!) and the employees overall are TOP NOTCH - very friendly and really made me feel welcome and a valued customer! My intent was to just play a few hours, but I was having so much fun while riding the "winning streak" I ended up staying & playing for nearly twelve hours!! At one point I was ahead almost $500 - playing penny slots (and a few nickel machines). The place is CLEAN, SMOKE-FREE, and rivals the larger casinos in Vegas. Biggest drawbacks: there's no place to get a bite to eat that's open overnight, and the cafe is expensive for breakfast. No Table games (but I understand they ARE coming), and they need to rework their food comp formula: I would expect that $1,000 coin-in would garner MORE than just $3 in food comp $$$. The Player's Club personnel were impersonal, unfriendly, and worst of all: uninformative. I would expect these people to know their Player's Club policies, promotions, and FreePlay/Bonus Bucks' system - AND be able to explain it to their customers! (I will give then some leeway, as I visited near the end of a shift, but it's still no excuse for treating a new customer poorly and not being able to answer simple questions!) I very much look forward to my next visit to Pittsburgh and playing at The Rivers!!

Ehhh, overall take it or leave it, Tuesday, 20 October 2009 Written by Matt
Having returned to Pittsburgh after living in Florida for 10 years, I was excited to hear that Pgh was opening a casino. One of my favorite things to do was run to Tampa (nearly 1 hour away) with 20 bucks and waste some time playing the slots. Throughout the course of a year's time, I came out ahead $1,000+ from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, great times.

No Good for Me, Sunday, 18 October 2009 Written by Greg Save your money!!! Worst slots ever in last ten years of going to casinos. Went 10 times since it opened and never won a dollar. Takes your money in ten minutes or less. One time I put $20 in a quarter machine and the 1st 40 spins I hit nothing and then cashed out. The food is expensive, especialy the fast food place with fried everything at high prices. Eat before you get here. Oh, a draft beer is $5.00 at the spiral bar. Total rip-off casino. Go to the Meadows where you can put $20 in a slot machine and sit there for over an hour and have fun. Restaurant is nicer with better prices. Last time we had lunch for free and played slots for six hours and brought home money. They will be out of business in six months. I gave it a try and I am going back to the Meadows where they will appreciate a customer.

Great experience, Saturday, 03 October 2009 Written by Georgie I've seen alot of mixed reviews about the Rivers Casino. Well let me tell you, I had a blast! I spent a lot of time playing the penny and nickel machines and didn't lose much money for the amount of time I got to play. I was also surprised by the willingness of employees to help me. A young gentleman walked me to the buffet when I asked him where it was, rather than standing and pointing. I have no real complaints and I can't wait until they implement table games.

Fun, Saturday, 03 October 2009 Written by JoJo It is just beautiful inside. Much more pleasant than the Meadows and cleaner. Since the Meadows was a far drive anyhow, I'll be sticking close from now on. Wish they had used that outside theater when it was still warm because it's really nice by the River. I really love their Wizard of Oz machines and Quick Hits.

nightmare casino, Friday, 02 October 2009 Written by Peter samuelson Ok where do I start? How about the bottom because that's where this casino is. A 100% rip-off. Slots are so tight it's sad, buffet is expensive and free play is a joke. Everyone I saw looked so unhappy (like they got hit head on by Mack truck) there motto is "Have a winning day". Must be referring to themselves. Like one review said if you like to gamble, do it anywhere but here...

Pittsburgh's Dull Casino, Wednesday, 30 September 2009 Written by Anthony Silvio I have been here about 10 times now. Lots of broken machines. Food and stores don't open until 10 or 11am for a place open 24hours?? Slots are very tight. But the HIGH LIMIT slots area does have a lot of nice choices. Chao's is open at 7am, but offers very little. Parking was FREE and I have some nice FREE SLOT play. But these guys have a lot more to learn about being a "casino", much less a great casino. Go to this place, don't spend too much and see for your self. STAY AWAY from goofy blackjack slots and poker table slots. 4 of 6 people found the following review helpful

Awful, Saturday, 26 September 2009 Written by Frank V This place is crap. Slots are a joke didn't win at all, food is expensive as hell. The rivers is just a wanna be casino. Meadows and Presque are way better. If it lasts 6 months it's a miracle with their tight machines. SUCKS !!!! Totally rip-offs senior citizens. If this is what pittsburgh calls 1st class casino, boy do they have alot to learn - rookies.. 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful

Rivers Runs Deep into Pockets, Thursday, 03 September 2009 Written by janet As a Pittsburgh native and an experienced slot player, I was anxious for the arrival of the Rivers Casino. It is gorgeous....however the purpose of a casino,in my mind, is to be entertained, not win, but enjoy. But what a price you pay to play at the Rivers. I have never felt so ripped off or taken in my 20 plus slot playing years. For the amount of money I pumped into the machines and for what little play back I received I was angry enough to say I will never go back. (the Rivers is 3 minutes from my front door). Take your play money to the Meadows where you can be entertained for an afternoon without feeling as if you where robbed. To add insult to injury I enjoy the 1,2, 5 cent machines, you can spend a $20.00 in a minute...every winner that was announced over the PA system was a winner on a $5.00 or $1.00 machine...I wanted to scream since there were so few people playing those machines I guess all you had to do was spend $1.00. Leaving the Casino and heading into the elevator I asked if anyone won anything...not even one bonus game...shame on the Rivers Casino...maybe Pittsburgh can use Rivers for housing in a year or two...it has a beautiful view. 7 of 13 people found the following review helpful

Never again!, Saturday, 29 August 2009 Written by lin Boy were we disappointed in the New Rivers Casino. The truth is that the only nice thing about Rivers Casino is the atmosphere. But what does that matter when everything else about the place stinks? What are our specific complaints? First of all, we play video Keno. Out of 3,000 machines, there are only SIX video Keno machines on the floor. AND they don't even pay the full amount. That is if they paid at all, which they don't. There are also a few Keno machines at the bar, but VERY FEW. Next, the place is FREEZING COLD! Just awful. And yes, they charge an arm and a leg for parking. I think $8. They said the bar would open at 10:00, but no one ever showed up. EVER. And lastly, it is hard getting there. Just too much work for what you get. So I would recommend going to Meadows.

Cheap casino, Thursday, 27 August 2009 Written by daniel mc ferguson Absolutely cheap casino, the slots are so damn tight it's horrible. How can a grand opening casino be so cheap? This is an insult to the city and customers. Only machines that hit here are the ATM machines !!!!
