Three of us went last weekend. We always sat close to each other playing slots all night. None of us ever hit more than 20 dollars at any given time. We played for about 5 hours and dropped around $600. Never saw anyone hit and it was a Saturday night and the place was full. It's a shame that Texas lets all this money pour out of the state.

Winstar was fun at one point. But those days are long, long over. Don't plan on winning money...The slot payouts are VERY LOW! I put $100 in a machine and was only paid $17. That's ridiculous. However, the atmosphere is great. The drinks are a little expensive. If you're going to Winstar, just don't plan on winning much.

Win-Star used to be fun! You could go in and win, lately you might just as well hand them your money when you walk in! The VGT machines hardly ever turn red and give you free spins, and when they do, you had better get off even if you win $20, because they will take it all back right down to nothing. I'm very disappointed in the fact that you can't win like you used to! No big wins on the higher denominations either. Sad, for they are going to lose their regulars and truly they are only cheating themselves. If they thought about it, most people stay and play back what they have won, but hell why even go when you know you are going to lose!

The new place is finished 01/05/2010 and it's already looking like a ghost town because of the no or low payouts. I spoke to an employee and he said they were talking about shutting down one side during the week because of not enough players. Well, they did it to themselves. They have been ripping people off for the last year. How do I know? Well, I visit twice a week and yes I have seen week after week the number of players decreasing. Save your money there is no win in winstar.

Casino is dark and smoke filled. Lots of chain smoking...sweat suits, etc... Limited number of tables open. The 50-cent ante for every freaking hand sucks. Talk about ruining your odds right off the bat. Paying for every hand of BJ is ridiculous. Paying $40-$50 an hour to play. Most BJ tables have the card machines that they keep feeding after every hand. Drinks are not free. Most of the business is slot machines. Rows and rows of people pumping the machines full of their money. No roulette, no craps. I would rather head to Bossier City than pay to play and pay for drinks. TEXAS - please bring casinos to Texas and keep money in our State !!!

3 or 4 years ago, I would have told you Winstar is the place to go. They are now too big and payouts are extremely poor. I have watched people drop $300 and $400 in a machine and don't get any payback. They have changed too much. The casino is much larger and nice looking, but if you are looking to win some money, you might better stay away from there. Every time a machine hits a jackpot, they turn off the machine and make it not payable. Management is awful. Drink service is very poor. Some drink servers, if you do not want beer, they will take your order but won't bring it back. Winstar made me forget about Shreveport, but by the same token, they are making me go back to Shreveport. I wish Texas would get a casino and Winstar would fall to pieces.

Fantastic atmosphere - huge improvement! Excellent variety of slots; however, the usual payouts that are common with Oklahoma casinos in that they leave a lot to be desired. I found the bartenders very pleasant. Even though the drinks are expensive, it's easy to tip someone with awesome customer service skills. Okay, so eat before you go to the Winstar. Haven't tried the Steakhouse or Italian yet -- not in a hurry to after the all the other "okay I'll try it here" places. Eww! It's hard to gross me out on a hamburger but eww!

This must be an old review of this wonderful casino. There is more than 519,000 sq. ft of casino floor, six restaurants, almost 2,200 games and over 80 tables. It is one of the top 5 largest casinos in the world.

The RV park has 150 spots and they are opening a brand new 400 room hotel on the 3rd of Sept. 2009. I highly recommend this casino if you are ever in the area, if nothing more than to see the wonderful and huge, fountains inside as well as the 8 different "Themed" areas.

Be sure to try the Steakhouse and the Italian restaurant! Both serve excellent cuisine and have great service as well.

Sorry to rate the slot payout low. Although there is a large variety of machines, I did not hear any big payouts.

Winstar publishes their big winners who really didn't win enough to brag. They are few in number and low payouts.

Come on Winstar.. your reputation of bad payouts is common in the DFW area. Thackerville Travel Plaza is prior to going to Winstar. It is small, but I have always won big there. I cannot say the same for Winstar.

Going for ambience, alcohol and food, go to Winstar. For slots and winning, go to Thackerville Gaming.

Since Winstar has gotten so large, the slot payouts are horrible. Yes, they are into making money, but when you put $100 in a machine and get (maybe) $5 or $10 these are not acceptable payouts.

I walked around the casino and very, very few machines had much money on them at all. If they don't payout some, how can customers keep playing? Very few bells going off even when the place is crowded.

If you want to have a great time AND have a better chance at leaving with some money, CHOCTAW is the place to go. It's smaller and the payouts and JACKPOTS are alot better.

Winstar has gotten too large, and they have too big of an overhead, plus BEING GREEDY WITH PAYOUTS. Its' worth the extra drive to Choctaw to have more fun, and have a chance to play the slots for a longer time. Thanks.

It's alot better, and newer.

The casinos are completely different from these 1999 reviews, they DO serve alcohol, and there's over 500,000 sq/ft of gaming floor now, there's plenty of space, the only time there's crowding is when there's concerts on friday/saturday nights.

there's plenty of table games, usually, the .50 cent ante is just part of playing in Oklahoma, since gambling isn't technically legal. Overall the casino is kept quite clean and there's always give always if you take the effort to find out about them, tons of new resturaunts and the hotel project is almost finished, can't wait :) oh and about the smoking, many people smoke when they drink and gamble, it's just part of the atmosphere.

First off this place is not that bad as some people say it is. Yes you have to pay an ante in order to play table games "this is a state law in Oklahoma" which is why I don't play table games here. You can get full pay VP in JOB at the .50 level at many machines however there are some short pay machines mixed in. They have expanded the casino and the further down you go the less crowded it becomes and less smoke you have to deal with. I go here because I live in Dallas and it is a a shorter drive than going into LA to gamble. Hey it takes care of my gambling fix and I avoid all table games its not vegas but it is fun and cheap.

Table games are .50 per hand. Can never get a table, if there are any vacant tables or seat they shut the table down.

Non smoking tables are few and far between. EVERYONE there smokes!!!! cough cough.

Comps are patheitic. If I won a million dollars there, I still couldn't give them a good review. If Texas ever legalizes gambling, this place will go out of business.

WinStar has improved a lot since some of these last reviews were written. We went last weekend and it is much improved. They are having an ongoing construction to enlarge and renovate the casino. The last expansion added a large slots and table game areas. It is fairly crowded during the week and very crowded during the weekend. In spite of their vast parking lot, they still have trams to take you to the casino and there is valet parking available. The buffets are really good. I think it is a good value for the short drive.

We go at least once a month and have a blast.............................

This place is getting better in the last year. We went last weekend and it was the best trip in a while. Seafood buffet was great! You may have to park far away but a golf cart will pick you up quick. Finally all the games are together with paper printout. Your players card is just that. Much easier than it use to be. Many of the new slots are same as we saw in Las Vegas.
They seem to be adding on. Lots of construction outside.
Recently they started selling booze. $4.50 for a mixed drink. Still only age 18 to gamble, 21 to go around the bar area.
Nicest thing is it's less than two hours drive from DFW metro area.

We have been to Winstar many times and have noticed with each visit how run down it is becoming. This is one Texan who will bypass Winstar and head to Riverwind or Firelake. The extra drive time is well worth it.

Agree with comment that the casino is crowded - especially on weekends and holidays when you have to wait endlessly to get to a slot.

Don't agree that the casino is dirty - just might feel that way temporarily during peak times.

They must be doing something right from the crowds and the fact they are putting Shreveport/Bossier out of business!

Place looks good on the outside.

Very large and clean.

Food in the buffet is great. Seafood buffet, Friday nights. Steak house isn't too good. Haven't tried the snack bar or Italian food.
Need a bar.

Not as good payback on machines as Red River.

I'll go for the Friday night seafood buffet.
