I read all of these terrible reviews before I went so my expectations were quite low. A friend talked me into going for a day and one night. Well I loved the place! Stay in the new hotel and the new casino area if you don't like smoky, dark places. The old casino was scary dark, with old machines. I'd been told you win more, but I played $1.00 and went back to the nice new casino. Great lighting, new machines. Noise level very good. You can hear some machines and still have a conversation. EVERYONE was polite, friendly and helpful. It was spring break, and they weren't prepared. Very understaffed, wait at the restaurants very long. But again politeness and apologies. I'm going back soon. :) Is it Vegas no? But that might be a good thing. I could sit for a couple minutes at a slot without some staffer thinking I was loitering. It was ok to play slow here.

Went up there on Monday. I became extremely dissatisfied with Winstar and started going to Choctaw. I have spent A LOT of money up there. Before you go up there realize something. They turned over almost all operations other than the casino to outside vendors. So when you run into a problem like I did with the check cashing operation it will take you 4 hours and multiple trips across the parking lot in the rain to get someone to help you....if you are lucky. Most likely you are going to run into two scenarios....you will be told that most everyone in the casino is not a Choctaw employee or you will be told that the person that needs to make that decision is not in the casino at the time. Then after losing more I just decided that I didnt want to pay for the privilege to be treated like crap so I asked for a self ban form. I have done this before. It removes the temptation to go play somewhere that treated me bad. THEY COULDNT FIND ONE! It took forever for them to find the right form. Then while I was waiting I was told by a security guard that nothing was keeping me here and I should have the self control to not patronize a place that treats me bad. Pretty much telling me that I was less than a person cause I wanted to remove temptation and didnt do it the same way that he did. They put lipstick on a pig. They open a multimillion dollar casino and didnt have the wrinkles ironed out. They give away their restaurants to outside vendors..ie losing gambling space. Just keep going to down the road to shreveport or just go to winstar. At least there you know they are jerks and know what to expect.

I unfortunately agree with all the terrible reviews. I like to play slots with my girlfriends but none of us ever could hit for anything. Restaurant was terribly overpriced and food was mediocre. I thought they upgraded so went for Super Bowl to get away from husbands---we won't be going back here!!!! You can dress up a pig and it is still a pig!

Went up Friday and waited 1.5 hours to get paid on a $2,500 IRS ticket, first had to find one of understaffed attendants then an hour later I had to literally chase her down to get paid. I went to the deli twice. They had people in line and one former subway person doing everything. I hit total 6 IRS tickets and spent most of my time chasing attendants and money. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE.

From 2/12/10 to 2/14/10, I was eating, sleeping, and of course playing at the new Choctaw Casino in Durant. It is a really nice place. They have plenty of modern slot machines to play. On Feb 12, the machines were paying ok. You may end-up losing some, but you will have plenty of opportunity to play as you win some and lose some. On Feb 13, the machines were really loose. I mean loose in the sense that you hear all buzzers going off on almost every machine. Jackpots at almost all type of games were that evening. Then come Sunday when I can't believe seeing almost everyone betting 50 cents or less because the machines we so tight. I expect to lose money but I didn't expect to see people being vocal about their disappointments. I guess the money for the 10k every hour giveaway, as well as the new Lexus giveaway, must come from somewhere. The service was good, not the best, employees seem to be caught off guard, in fact, many of them wouldn't know where the bathrooms are located. The ice machines ran out of ice, the food businesses were not prepared for the turn outs, they closed the doors because they ran out of food. For a large casino with experience under its belly, I think Choctaw performed poorly on their grand opening. I think it is a good casino that is worth visiting. They definitely impressed me with the machines variety, floor design, the extravagant indoor as well as outdoor(pool, mini golf course, quite sitting facilities, etc..) However, they have made a bad first time impression on me, and for that I will not go back to the Durant location again.

I went to Durant in early December, 2009. It was my first trip to an Oklahoma casino. As soon as I entered the front door, I found the noise level to be oppressive. I could not believe it. I tried to play video poker for a while, but I was under an air conditioner vent and could not stay more than 15 minutes. I could not find a craps table, so I tried some blackjack. The dealer was a very pleasant young lady and I had a good time. However, if one plays less than $25 a hand, the 50 cent tax per hand will eat up any winnings. I had planned to stay overnight, but gave up and started home after about an hour.

Visit Durant about three times a week. Slots are really bad. I understand they are there to take your money and I don't mind losing, but seems the last two years the slots will not even let you play for awhile. When I first started visiting Durant it was nothing to see a slot locked up if I walked around, but now it is rare if I see one slot locked up a night. Message to Chowtaw-I don't hear many bells and remember if someone wins occasionally they will tell there friends - same is true if they lose.

I frequently visit Choctaw and they seem to draw a pretty fair crowd, it's sometimes too crowded on weekends. Thus, a bigger casino is coming in. It does seem slots are not paying as well as in the past. I hear many complaints about this and many people are playing less per spin to make the money last longer. Really looking forward to the new casino opening in a couple weeks. And see what the new restaurants are like.

I have been going to the Oklahoma casinos for about 4 years now. I used to go to Windstar because I live in Plano and it was closer, or seemed closer, than Choctaw. But when Windstar remodeled and became larger than the law should allow, the jackpots became smaller and smaller. So I started to go to Choctaw and I spend a lot of money - I mean a LOT and I have noticed that the main slots I would play which are mr. moneybags, liberty 7's, gems and jewels and all those in the high roller area, are not paying nearly as much as they used to.

This seems to be since the casino shut down a couple months ago to reset and re microchip the machines. Many regulars talk - we are all like a big club of 'friends' - everyone mentioned that the slots are not paying like they used to. That is what keeps up coming back - the fun of playing and winning.

Most of the time we avid players will put most of the money back, but the winning was at least mutual - win some, play some back in, win some, play some back in. Now it is just play back in and don't win as much.

I have lost a couple thousand in a day playing machines that would usually hit a jackpot or accumulate a nice sizeable amount but it is just not happening anymore.

I know the Choctaw people think that we will still come because we are all hooked and gambling addicts - but remember this people - a crack head does not go the same crack dealer if the crack does not get him high anymore - think about that you Choctaw owners - you will see a huge drop in business just like Winstar.

1st getting a drink cart girl to bring you something to drink is very hard to find. 2nd they put in self serve machines because of the complaints, when it is very rare to see a drink cart girl not talking. Machines are very tight as of late. I am a local that spends alot of money here and I am in there alot when VGT comes in to tighten the machines. All of the locals that I used to see in here have stopped coming. I have also stopped going I am now saving up to go to Vegas.

I have been going to Choctaw in Durant for couple of years now. When they built the new casino by the 75 highway, it was great. The slots were paying half way good. BUT, now since they are building the new one this casino has really gotten tight.

Yes, they are in the business of making money, but when you put $100 in different slot machines and if you get back $20 you're doing good. They have also been getting fined at the end of the month for NOT paying out the jackpots they are suppose to.

I have been on various internet sites, as well as talked to the locals and they have even said Choctaw would rather pay the FINE than payout on the machines. Do they not know this will run off TEXAS customers? The internet spreads bad reviews very fast.

I dont mind losing money BUT when you play several machines and get nothing this is not FUN. Pretty much the only machines that do hit are the $25? slot machines. The same machine will hit over and over again. I figure if these people can afford to play the $25 machines they can afford to lose some.

If you want to stay in business with the NEW hotel and casino coming, you're going to have to loosen up the slots, or you willl end up like Winstar. THEY got too large and have too big of an overhead now and you can't win anything there either.I

? thought Shrevport was tight, but Oklahoma casinos take the cake as well. It would be nice just to be able to play for a while and get SOME money back just so you could keep playing for a while and have some fun.

When you get so large you have too big of an overhead, having to pay these high end entertainers, plus more help etc... I am coming to play the slots, not watch entertainment.

It's a shame because handled the right way these Oklahoma casinos could make large amounts of money AND payout to the customers at the same time to keep them coming back. Thanks for the chance to voice my opinion.

My husband and I are senior citizens who frequent Choctaw one to two times a week. We noticie that? the older casino is? tightening down its machines and we lose even more playing there.

Before the new hotel/casino began, the older part of the casino did pay off pretty decently. Last two or so years it has been really bad. One way of telling winnings, besides visually, is the sounds of the slots, which too often are quiet. This is how the jackpots gets so high. I for one am not sure if a jackpot is won. We are there alot when it disappears off the Royal Reels, but see no one actually getting it. So I think maybe it's just a number that keeps adding up getting people to drop all their money into the machines. I played them many times and can't even get credits back to play on for a bit. It is sucked it up in a few seconds.. This is every time.

Now, the newer casino seems to have taken up the same habit of tightening down the machines. I can also watch the spins on the slots. When it flickers, it changes the playing mode, and to top it off, last night at the fireworks show (which we ended up not watching) we were parked in a close handicap parking.

My husband can't walk far at a time and can't stand without pain. We were sitting in the back of our van thinking, finally, we had a great spot to see. Only to be told by a pissy little young security walking around that we had to stand outside the car or sit on the ground, or we would be loitering.

I couldnt believe this. they said it was so there would be no one getting broken into. The more they talked the more ridiculous it got. At our age, they were making us stand or sit on the ground if we were to watch the fireworks. so by then we weren't interested in them. Im just about ready to take our business back to Bossier City.

Eateries are way over-priced. Customer service is lacking.?

I waited for 3 hours because the slots went down. After they got them going again (they all reset because someone hit a big jackpot) I still had to wait another hour to get machine reset.

Slots are tight and you have to pay to play table games.

Great place for locals to play the slots or table games. They have buses that run almost throughout Texas. The slots probably pay as well as any other "bingo" related slots. It isn't Vegas or Shreveport, but you can have a lot of fun without traveling a long distance. They have a good buffet and the Casino Hotel has a great "Oasis" pool area for the whole family to enjoy. They are currently building a new, three-story casino.

This is a new facility. The gaming is good by Oklahoma standards. I will never like paying 50 cents a hand for blackjack but it is close to home if you have the urge to play.
