New Years Eve 2010. My boyfriend and I wanted to go out and do somthing fun and nice this year. Looking online we saw that The Pool at Harrah's Atlantic City was having a New Years party. We paid $250 to get in and have an open bar from 9-12. We ended up getting there before 9 and having to wait in a line for over an hour to get our tickets which we have already purchased. Harrah's had 2 employees sitting at a table with a clip board of THOUSANDS of names and envelopes with everyone's tickets. Needless to say this seemed ridiculous considering I bought the tickets online to go to a huge casino you might assume that they would at least provide a computer or something to help things go a little smoother than 2 girls searching through a ton of names for every person walking through the door. After waiting through this line and finally receiving my tickets we had to go wait in yet another line just to walk through the door. All the while they had stations set up selling us drinks while we should have been enjoying our "open bar". They also had a beer guy walking up and down the line selling beers for 5 dollars. Considering this was a nice casino and I paid a decent price and dressed nice for this event, I felt as though this was extremely tacky. Once inside the bar (finally) we had about 1 hour and 15 min left of our "3 hour open bar". When we did try to get a drink it was extremely hard to even get served. Everyone was in a mad scramble to get drinks considering the fact that everyone was being slighted for what they paid. The bartenders were very slow and inconsistent. Finally we started throwing up $20 tips and even still couldn't get good service. I ended up paying much more for this open bar then I ever have just going out and buying all my drinks at full price. The place was crazy packed and it seemed as though everyone was pissed off (probably because we all got screwed by harrahs little new years scam) By 1am we were a little tired of fighting through the crowds and trying to get drinks , we decided to go some place else. While trying to leave The Pool another party attender decided to come over and assault my friend. My boyfriend's reaction was to pull the guy off our friend and at this point the security bum rushed my boyfriend and ended up cuffing him and treating him like a criminal while the man who started this mess walked free. They repeatedly treated my boyfriend with extreme force even though he was not fighting back in any way. When they took him to a holding cell, I had asked a security guard to let me know where my boyfriend was... he then took me to where they were holding my boyfriend, but only to get screamed at by the other security guards and told that I could not be anywhere near him. (Once again treating us as if we were criminals or something ridiculous while we were trying to be as calm as the situation was allowing.) Once they found out that my boyfriend was not at fault they still continued to hold him and then made him leave the premises, not even allowing him to wait outside with me for a cab. They forced him to walk across the street in the freezing rain and wait for me over there while I tried to get a cab and then go pick him up. This all seeming ridiculous and extreme considering we were attacked not the attackers. I am so upset with the customer service and the security at Harrah's. I will never go back and give them any of my money. I do not recommend this casino in any way. I have had a great time at a lot of other casinos and feel as though all of this negativity could have been avoided if this establishment was organized and ran well...obviously it is not.

LIVING in philadelphia and having a/c 70 miles away can be a trap to say the least ....in oct i arrived at harrahs at 1.00 am i immediately went to the crap table and played until 5.ooam...when i knew i had to leave i had the boss color me up and i proceeded to the cage with $2,650.00 in chips....it should be noted the casino was dead at this time, upon arriving at the cage to cash out i couldnt find or spot a cage cashier....finally a young lady came to cash me out she stated $2,650.00 sir i said yes, then came the supersonic hand to hand count of the $100 bills {keep in mind there were no customers anywhere in sight except me } when she was done counting she tried to hand the bills i said honey would you count that slower as i refused to touch that money...she then gave me the look of oh sh*t im busted,,,she recounted the money and only had $2,550.00 a hundred dollar bill short.

she immediately stated oh sir im sorry,to which i said your only sorry? i caught you..i immediately went back to the suits in the pit and told them about this intentional beat attempt at the cage, naturraly they couldnt care less at 5.30am...since when do people in cages not count the money in rows in front of the customers where the cameras would easily see the bills laid out..i have been all over the world gambling in casinos and trust me this was an intentional beat by this young lady to make herself a quick $100.00....thank god 2 weeks later i was on a plane to vegas for breeders cup week....oh and if you're curious i sent harrahs a letter and never received a reply.........

will never stay there again

Like another reviewer, my husband and I were given a promotional room. We did not receive the room type we requested and when we did get a room, we walked in and it was filthy. There was hair all over the bathroom (like it had never been cleaned). Needless to say, we were quite grossed out. While they did come to clean the room, it kind of made me wonder what else had not been cleaned in the room that we could not see!

Did horrid on the slots....did take the shuttle to properties on the boardwalk, but do have a complaint. The shuttle drops you off at Ceasar's in the bus terminal which does not always have the nicest of characters hanging around there. The shuttle runs until after midnight, however there is no security or anything while standing and waiting for the shuttle to arrive. i happily paid for cab fare rather than wait for the shuttle down there with some unsavory characters milling about!!!

Harrah's always has nice properties, but they usually offer mediocre gambling options with tight machines and this place is no exception.

I hadn't been here in a few years and they certainly did a lot of upgrading to the whole facility. I had stayed here before and I liked the rooms, but I usually prefer to stay near the boardwalk. Also, I like to play video poker and the games at some of the boardwalk casinos offer better returns.

I toured the entire ground floor area and the most impressive part was the new domed pool area. It was very, very nice. I can see that being a big asset to the property, especially during the winter months.

New buffet called Water Front is nice, think you would see the water, price is a little high.

Table games never have $5 limits. Has shuttle bus to their other casinos but it's sometimes full. Send lots of mail offers, but have to take transportation to get to them, they are away from other casinos

I recently visited Harrah's for the first time after receiving a promotion for two free nights at several hotels. I was greatly disappointed in the overall setup. To start with I was not given the room I reserved. Secondly, in Harrah's you feel trapped without choices on where to eat and separated from the rest of the city. Third, Harrah's is rated as the worst on return in the slots. I am a Total Rewards member and next time I visit one of my choices in hotels it will either be the Showboat, Bally's, or Ceasar's. Good Luck.

It's not that bad!

I stayed at Harrah's a few years ago and I liked the place.

The rooms were nicer than the Showboat, but they don't have any decent video poker. I believe there are only two $1 9/6 Jacks or Better machines in the entire casino

As far as being stranded, there is now a free shuttle among all of the Harrah's properties. All you have to do is show your player's club card and you can get a free ride to the other Harrah's properties on the Boardwalk: Caesars, Showboat and Bally's
