Great Prime Rib Everywhere! Prime rib buffet Wednesday nights: Seafood buffet on Friday nights (Prime rib too!!) Comps for the buffets. A great room cheap! Free booze while playing! $5 blackjack tables with nice dealers. WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?

Our favorite home away from home, Friday, 13 February 2009 Written by Michael Atkinson Every year my wife and I go to Vegas. We always stayed at 3 hotels over a week to try new ones each year. Since 2006, we always make a stop at South Point from 3-5 days of the week. We still try other hotels out, but mostly to get a Jacuzzi room. We enjoy everything about this casino; we feel very comfortable in the rooms. Always nice and clean. We love having the movies there to take a couple hours off from walking/gaming. They have a nice bowling alley also which we have visited, but never played at. I enjoy playing poker there, but they need to have a separate room for it, but it isn't a deal breaker. The slot club and gaming is very good also. The only suggestions I would have is to have an option for a Jacuzzi room at a reasonable rate like the Stratosphere does or sometimes the deals they offer with jacuzzi at MGM, Excalibur or Luxor. The other suggestion would be to make the buffet better as it isn't up to the likes of other local favorites like Orleans, Gold Coast, or even Silverton. We will continue to stay here on each trip. We just booked 4 nights for May with other days at Stratosphere in a jacuzzi room. 0 of 2 people found the following review helpful
It's Average, Friday, 13 February 2009 Written by Geoffrey Quillen We go for the $3.00 movies for seniors. We have stopped eating there as the food is as bad as you can find anywhere. We had the absolute worst meal ever in their coffee shop and when we asked to speak to the manager he went into a back area and would not come out. Now that's bad! The gaming there is just average and the Club which started off being very liberal has deteriorated to absolutely nothing. It will be interesting to see what happens when M opens in March.

We like it!, Wednesday, 19 November 2008 Written by Hank
My wife and I spent 2 weeks at the South Point last year. The staff and hotel was excellent and the price of the room was very good. The room we had faced Las Vegas Blvd. and the view was great, you could see all of the way across the valley. We like the South Point because of the various types and quantity of video poker machines. We think they have the most in Las Vegas.

Out of the way, but don't make it out of reach for, Tuesday, 30 November 1999 Written by isles_1 I love the fact that the South Point (formerly South Coast) is not full of packs of tourists, nor is their a cloud of smoke hovering over the casino floor. The Graveyard Specials at Coronado Cafe are not to be missed! Make it a point to check out the South Point when you are in LV...even if it is a little bit out of the way. You will not be disappointed. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful
Worth the Drive, Tuesday, 30 November 1999 Written by westie This casino was built before the surrounding area was populated and direct access off I-15 is still a work in progress. Other than on weekends, the casino is not busy. The lounge is not particularly active except on weekends. Other entertainment options include a 16-screen movie complex, bowling alley, large (though barren) pool area and an equestrian center. The showroom should be opening sometime in 2007. No 100% VP is offered though NSUD, BDLX and 9/6 JOB are offered at the 25c level. Dining options are numerous an include a very good coffee shop, Mexican, Steakhouse and Italian restaurants. The breakfast buffet is satisfactory, but the dinner buffet, including the weekly seafood buffet, suffers from low patronage. The Coronado Cafe, coffee shop, offers low priced graveyard specials until 9AM. that should not be missed. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful
Great job, Mr. Gaughan, Tuesday, 30 November 1999 Written by packerswon1 The staff was very friendly and helpfull, food is great, and being a video poker player, I was pleasantly surprised by vast addition of fair machines. My entire experience at the South Point was great and now rate it as my favorite destination and highly recommend it to all. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful
South Point -- A breath of fresh air, Tuesday, 30 November 1999 Written by Buddha When most other casinos are constantly lowering their quality of video poker, the South Point has put forth a full selection of top paying VP games, welcoming players at all levels. A real breath of fresh air, much like Benny Binion always wanting to make sure he gave the players a square deal, instead of trying to pick their pockets. Make the trip ... you'll be glad you did ! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful
NursiAnni, Tuesday, 30 November 1999 Written by NursiAnni Despite the hotel being full with rodeo participants & fans, we had a great time. We loved the video poker, and for the first time in 11 trips, did most of our playing at the casino where we were staying. I have booked a room again for this year's trip on 11/26-12/1. We learned to navigate around using the Interstate, and I can truthfully say, it beats traveling up the Strip! The room was fantastic, roomy, tastefully decorated. The only complaint I had was the lack of a king-sized bed, as this was for a trip for our anniversary. We had booked the hotel months in advance, too. I loved the 42" plasma screen tv, that I could actually see clearly without putting my glasses on! We didn't get a chance to try the early breakfast last year, but will make a point to do so this year. We did have a disappointing dinner in the cafe (we had eaten a large lunch, so just wanted a sandwich). Food and service was slightly lacking by Vegas standards. If you're looking for a very nice place to stay with reasonable rates, the Southpoint is the place for you. I'm really looking forward to our repeat stay this year! 2 of 3 people found the following review helpful
Smells Like New Shoes, Tuesday, 30 November 1999 Written by groovielou The rooms are above average for what you pay. The flat screen LCD TV's are awesome. Bathrooms are spacious and above all NEW! The only real negative I experienced is their Buffet. It is below average. The food is rather bland and sub-par for a Vegas buffet. I would have given the South Point four stars, but the buffet and the fact that its pretty far off the Strip gets it only three stars. |
