Looks are deceiving.
My husband and I visiited Live a few months after it opened, seeing it advertised on billboards near another casinos we had visited. Our first impression was WOW, what an upscale casino. It has awesome curb appeal, but not what slot players are looking for. We like to play penny slots and could find very few. There was only six machines of the type I would consider one of my favorites. I stood by them for 1 1/2 hours and the same six people played them the entire time. So I had to play some other machines, or a two hour drive from Ohio was totally wasted. Well it would have been better to not play at all. We lost almost $200 in about 45 minutes of actual play time.
We received some meager invitations from the players's club but do not consider those worth another trip. it looks like the reviews thus far indicate no improvement since we were there.
Just Set Your Money On Fire
If you want the Indiana Live experience, Go to the bank, take out all of your money, go back home to your backyard, grab a garbage can, insert your money, grab a match, and set it on fire. this is the same as going to Indiana Live. When it first opened in the new building you had a chance to win but now there is NO CHANCE of winning. The food is good but very over priced. ANY other casino in the state would be a better place to spend your money.
not too bad but could be better
I was one of many who went to the grand opening and like most of us we were overwhelmed when we first walked in. I went over to get a players card which was a nightmare, the system quit working when they tried to make me a players card.
This is Only ONE OF MANY things that were broken.I went over to the poker room first to get me a seat the people in the poker room were very nice and willing to help you out with the new tables. I played in the poker room for about 5 hr and in that whole time i saw 3 waitress and at no time was i able to get a drink.
There was a guy who did order a drink and it took him an hour and a half to receive his drink so you can say the service was very bad. I also stood in line at the deli to get some food for 45 mins .
The food was good but i have never eaten anything that was worth me standing in line for 45 mins. After I was done eating I walked around the place and noticed that about 1 out of every 6 slots were down. some time after midnight i was able to find a slot to play and i did pay out i trade? $1.00 for $20.00 and called it good.
ALL-N-ALL THEY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT THEY WOULD BE PACKED THEY NEED TO GET MORE PEOPLE WORKING . If I'm dumping my money in to the system a drink would be nice. Give it time to die down a bit and it will be better
So So
I think for the locals, its a nice night out. resturants are very nice, atmosphere is very good. I am a Blackjack player so the Video Black Jack was very disappointing, SO MANY SLOTS. This many slots on the floor definitely leads itself to a VEGAS sound and atmosphere.
If you're a card player, stick with the boats, if you play slots then this is the place to go, or if you're a local and just looking for a good meal and to burn a few nickels it's the best place in town.
Don't waste your time or money
Things better change dramatically when they move to their new facility. Must be why the slots pay absolutely nothing! They have to pay for their new 200,000 square foot plus facility. I (or anyone I know) have never hit ANYTHING at this place.
You never see a cocktail waitress and can't believe you have to pay for drinks the way they take your money. Not worth the trip. Save your money and gas.
Wait for the permanent casino.
The permanent Indiana Live casino is currently under construction. For now they have one of those giant, indoor bubble buildings like you find at an indoor golf driving range. The gravel parking lot and construction do not create a very welcoming atmosphere on the outside but once inside its actually a pretty vibrant environment. The players club sends out alot of mailers for free slot play and food coupons. Also, there are multiple point days. I found most of the slots to be just "OK". There is a pretty nice selection but they are not as loose as some of the casino-hotels on the Ohio river.
The only place to eat is a Wolfgang Puck cafeteria that sells really overpriced fast food. A burger, fries and drink wil run you over $10. The food is really good but certainly not a bargain at these prices. Once the permanent casino is in place I'm sure there will be more eateries.
All in all its an OK casino for people local to Indianapolis who want a fun night out. I would not recommend making it a travel destination from another city. I'll go back again when the real casino is in place - for now I'll stick to Hoosier Park in Andersen which offers better food choices and the race track.
overall
A nice temporary casino with new casino to be finish around march attached to race track. Casino atmosphere is very nice and help is very friendly. A nice mix of slots and Video Poker but VP games have very poor pay schedules with the best game being 8/5 bonus poker only at the dollar level and only 7/5 at lower levels.
